Marine Superintendent at MF Shipping Group
My name is Martine Vonk and I am a Marine Superintendent at MF Shipping Group.
I joined MF Shipping Group in 2014 as a Quality Inspector in the Quality Department. Before moving to this shore position, I worked for several years as a Navigational Officer on gas tankers. In my current position, my experience as a helmsman comes in handy and I find the perfect balance between office work, being involved in the day-to-day operations on board the vessels and at home.
Familiar faces
Although I loved my job at the time, personal circumstances forced me to take an indefinite leave of absence. During my absence, I always kept in touch with the Chief Quality Officer, Jankees Metzlar, and Karin Orsel (CEO). Fortunately, after those years, I was given the opportunity to return to the MF Shipping Group in the same position as before. What struck me on my return was that many of the same people were still working, both in the office and on the fleet. To me, this is a sign that many people really like it here!
I hope to inspire (young) professionals to start their career at MF Shipping Group, whether on board or in the office.
Various work
Working in the Quality Department as a Marine Superintendent is very varied. Liaising with colleagues in the office and on board, visiting vessels for internal audits, arranging grease and class inspections, communicating with various oil majors, investigating incidents and accidents, working from home or the office; no week or day is the same in our department.
At MF Shipping Group it does not matter what nationality you are or whether you are male or female. Everyone is judged on their expertise and professionalism. I hope to inspire (young) professionals to start their career at MF Shipping Group, whether on board or in the office.
